- Pick A Potty Location Outside
Take your pet dog to the same location every time. Your Dog will begin to understand that this is the potty location.
Long-term use of the same location causes:
- Nitrogen Overload
- Salt accumulation pH Shift in soil
- Soil Compaction and Grass Stunting Growth
To mitigate the dead-looking area and keep it a living area:
- Immediately flush/dilute the urination spot with water
- Periodically cover the area with a layer of compost
- Add soil conditioners as necessary
Potty Rule: When in doubt, take them out!
- Watch Your Pet Dog Indoors
Your dog will give personal signals that they are needing to go outdoors. You must watch your dog and learn the urination signals such as:
- Sniffing for a place to urinate
- Your dog may begin circling while sniffing
- Your dog looks restless and may be moaning
Immediately take your dog outside to the potty area.
Potty Rule: When in doubt, take them out!
- Take Your New Pet Outside Often
By taking you dog outside to the potty area often your pet will learn this is the potty area.
In the beginning take your pet dog out to the potty location:
- First thing in the morning
- Immediately after eating
- Immediately after your pet take a drink
- After playing indoors
- Always immediately before turning off the lights/bedtime

- Accidents Happen Indoors
Be Patient and Calm
During the potty-training periods of time accidents will happen indoors.
- Do not punish your dog
- It may take several weeks to train your dog
- Stick to the routine – you will be successful

Offer a treat reward for success.
- Pet your pet friend every time your dog uses the potty area
- Be verbal – repeat complimentary words like saying, “Good Dog”
